The Junkie Team set off for northern Wisconsin last weekend for some tip-up ice fishing action and had an amazing time. I was joined by friend Jake Thoele. Bright and early friday morning we began our adventure by heading north to Bayfield, WI. We met up with my cousins Bob & Jason Greatsinger and junkie pro-staffer Jeremy Rydberg. This was the first time Jake and I had ever fished for lake trout through the ice and we new that we’re in for a treat. We headed out on snow machines for about 8-10 mile out on the ice. We ended up catching seven lake trout through the ice using bobbin sticks and chunks of cut bait. We were fishing about 207 feet deep.
On Saturday, Jake, Jason and I headed south to the Hayward area for some Northern Pike Action. We were met up with my brother Mike who joined us for our ice fishing trip. We caught a mess of fish and got some great footage. My brother Mike was on fire. He definitely caught the most fish that day.
Mike’s thoughts about the experience, “It was the most glorious day on the ice I have ever been part of. The weather was perfect, the fish we on fire and we were blessed with twelve pike, one nice large mouth bass and about two dozen bluegills through the ice”.
On the first day of adventure we went to Bayfield, WI to fish on Lake Superior for lake trout. We set up on 2 feet of ice and fished 205 feet down. What a crazy feeling knowing that at anytime the Lake could bring in waves and take out the ice from beneath our feet. What a rush!
